AUTUMN/WINTER 2011

ART SCHOOL BLOC
The hard edges and diverse mixes of Eastern European art find a home in this story of magpie-mixing with a grungy feel. Crazy jacquards and vintage panelled knits are teamed with a slim-leg silhouette, topped off with oversized lightweight parkas or quilted jackets. It's all about the art school student who revels in his thrift-store finds and loves to be different in one-off pieces teamed with sporty shapes.

NORTHERN LIGHTS
As the huge trend for heritage-inspired clothing gains pace, we look backwards to create instant classic pieces, which feel real and have authentic roots. Functional details are key and add bags of character while wool fabrics such as tweed, herringbone and windowpane checks come to the fore. Blending folkloric patterned knits with lo-fi performance jackets and multipocket trousers, topped off with key statement outerwear pieces, the look brings much colour to a timeless menswear story.

TRAWLER
The feeling is nautical but the look is not 'regatta crisp'. With a nod to the dark and icy seas of Russia, chunky cable knits and even chunkier 'bovver' boots are key for a moody take on sailor attire. Slim jeans in acid and snow washes are mixed with chunky knits and no-frills peacoats while blanket-stripe shirts are worn with underwear-inspired jersey pieces. A focused and serious look that's distinctly Soviet.

TRANS SIBERIA
A road trip across Russia's wilderness inspires a fusion of folkloric patterns and print with modern techniques, shapes and silhouettes. For a look that's luxurious and slightly exotic, our traveller wraps up in rich jacquards, lofty knits, soft wools, corduroy and shearling and faux fur. Traditionally trimmed glamorous coats are teamed with utility-inspired pants, drop-crotch trousers and beaten-up denims that update the silhouette.
